In a General Assembly of the union members that was also replicated in the states of Aragua, Falcón and Trujillo, the representatives of the CNP-Lara (National Journalists College, Section Lara State), discussed aspects of this event that seeks to harm professional communicators.

This meeting held at the headquarters of the Association of Journalists in the city of Barquisimeto, was headed by Aura Rosa Matheus, President of the Lara Sectional of the CNP, who mentioned that this law, where they intend to include “popular power”, comes with the imposition of a characteristic ideological line of the ruling party.

Similarly, she stressed that in addition to the reform, they also want to include the so-called “Hate Law”, as one more measure of intimidation for Venezuelan journalists.

Among other things, Matheus assured that citizens without preparation and without knowing the ethical regulations, cannot exercise this activity in a transparent and professional manner, which is why they ratify the rejection and opposition to this reform.

She finally sent an exhortation to the journalist’s union at the national level to join forces and demonstrate total rejection to the reformed law, as well as to the rest of the professional unions, who in times of difficulty have received the unrestricted support of Venezuelan journalists.
